Job Description

St. John's Episcopal Hospital is recruiting for a Director Of Development for External Affairs. This position is  located in Bethpage New York. The Director of Development and Community Outreach is charged with raising the funds necessary to support our operations by development and implementation of succesful fundraising strategies in collaboration with the board and staff. This position reports to the VP of External Affairs. Occasional work on weekends and evenings required.

This position is Full Time, offers  Excellent Benefits, PTO, Tuition Reimbursement, 403b Program. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop a strategy for overall revenue generation including corporate and private partners
  • Plan and execute the organization's major gifts program in partnership with the Vice President of External Affairs and CEO
  • Develop  activities, including, a  major gifts program, annual fund, capital campaigns, special events and planned giving
  • Responsible for event logistics, vendor relations, fundraising, increasing awareness/attendance, and day-of-success
  • Set the annual fundraising goals based on a clear comprehensive understanding of organizational priorities and the fundraising potential in the year ahead.
  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing to create attractive and engaging print, social media communication materials for outreach fundraising efforts
  • Provide support to the VP of External Affairs and briefings to the CEO as required
  • Serve as a liaison to the Board of Trustees Foundation committee as requested by the CEO

 

 





Skills/Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in  public relations or marketing and communication.

  • Experience in a hospital or large nonprofit environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills are mandatory, as well as organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to be self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to use good judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexible for a variety of activities – some routine, some more advanced.
  • Flexible schedule - some nights and weekends for events and committee meeting.
  • Drivers License / Car preferable
