Job Description

Under the direction of housekeeping management team supervises work activities of cleaning personnel to ensure clean, orderly, attractive rooms in hotels. Assigns workers their duties, and inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.

Position Functions/Areas of Responsibility

  • Obtains list of vacant rooms that need to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective check-outs or discharges in order to prepare work assignments. Advises manager, desk clerk, or admitting personnel of rooms ready for occupancy.
  • Inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies and issues supplies and equipment to workers. Investigates complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment, and takes corrective action.
  • Examines rooms, halls, and lobbies to determine need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment, and makes recommendations to management. Checks cleaned rooms to verify and ensure standards of cleanliness. Checks rooms for maintenance problems. Follows up on special guest requests.
  • Records data concerning work assignments, personnel actions, and time cards, and prepares periodic reports. Contributes to the communications, implementations, and scheduling of job activities.
  • Attends periodic staff meetings with other department heads to discuss company policies and patrons' complaints, and to make recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation. May prepare reports concerning room occupancy.
  • Trains and supervises housekeepers in job performance.

  • Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Task-specific training such as cleaning skills, or other specialized training.
  • Prior supervisory experience necessary.


Skills & Knowledge

  • Demonstrate basic competency in reading, writing, speaking, simple arithmetic and interpersonal relations.
  • Must be reliable, mature and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Requires some exercise of judgment within policy guidelines and without management approval.
  • Requires some problem solving and initiation of activities within job description and responsibility limitations.
  • Requires strong understanding of other Snowbird operations.
  • Spanish preferred but not required

Work Schedule

  • Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
  • Specific Shift: Must be able to work any day of the week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Working Conditions

  • Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
  • May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
  • Other/Additional:  Daily work with cleaning chemicals could present some hazards. Must use care with chemicals.  Able to push or pull beds, move chairs, and move tables.  Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
