Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia, seeks an Adjunct Instructor for its Culinary Arts Program at the Hart County Career Academy. The candidate will report directly to the Culinary Arts Program Chair and is responsible for fulfilling both dual administrative and non-administrative (teaching) duties for the Culinary Arts Program.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and implement course materials that support stated initiatives and use appropriate techniques to provide students with the knowledge needed to achieve the learning outcomes for all Culinary Arts courses offered.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Using appropriate teaching, testing, and grading techniques
  • Demonstrating current knowledge of the subject area and using effective written and oral communication skills
  • Maintaining educational records and using technology appropriate to the subject taught
  • Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Culinary Arts or related field
  • American Culinary Federation (ACF) certification; and/or Certified Executive Chef (CEC); and/or Certified Culinary Educator (CCE); and/or Approved Culinary Evaluator (ACE); ServSafe Certification.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of documented work experience in the culinary field with at least 5 years management experience in the following: restaurant, hotel / club dining room, beverage and food and beverage industries.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher  with a minimum 5-7 years of actual work experience in the culinary field with at least 3 years management experience
  • Must also have a minimum of 1 year part-time Adjunct Instructor college-level teaching experience; including online, lecture, hybrid, and web-enhanced.
  • Demonstrate hands on culinary arts cooking techniques in guidance with American Culinary Federation (ACF) standards
  • Experience with developing presentations with advanced media technology and online learning applications
  • A minimum of 1 year part-time Adjunct college-level teaching experience; including online, lecture, hybrid, and web-enhanced
  • Proficient experience with developing and managing courses using the Blackboard learning management system and online instruction
  • Proficiency using all Microsoft office applications: Word 2013, Excel 2013, PowerPoint 2013 and Outlook
  • Must demonstrate and display strong written and oral communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
