Job Description

St.John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway is recruiting for a Senior Patient Advocate. This person engages patients, families and staff to ensure effective care is rendered and to address patient and family expectations, complaints and grievances. He/she assists with the Administrative functions of the Department of Patient Relations. Works collaboratively with others throughout the organization to leae patients, their families, loved ones or care givers feeling satified with the care rendered.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acts as a champion for service recovery and assists team members throughout the organization with implementation of service recovery efforts
  • Adhers to Hospital policies regarding attendance and tardiness
  • Presents a professional appearance and demeanor to patients and their families
  • Works collaboratively throughout the hospital to address service issues and identify systems issues for further resolution
  • Documents action items and ensures monitoring of activities to improve services.
  • Partner with the interdisciplinary team to enhance the patient and family experience
  • Evaluate needs, concerns and problems of patients/families
  • Keep documentation on family's and visitors' complaints and concerns about care and services

 





Skills/Requirements

High School Diploma / GED required, Bachelors preferred.

Minimum of 3 years experience healthcare experience

  • Understanding of conflict resolution methods
  • Medical terminology
  • Strong communication skills
  • Critical thinking and strong organizational skills
  • Must be very flexible and organized in balancing responsibilities considering the unplanned nature of the patient grievance process.
