Responsible for the overall operation of the Bessemer facility. Insures the efficiency of operations including controlling cost, development of the workforce, the safety of the workforce, the quality of the products, and the timely delivery of products to customers.
Manages and directs all production phases of Bessemer Plant operation through staff members.
Directs key managers and supervisors in production, casting, production control, packaging, and other related operations and administrative functions.
Responsible for aligning plant objectives with the Sr. Manager of Alabama Works to be consistent with the Company and Corporate objectives; the development and the implementation of a strategic plan to meet the objectives; and the monthly and annual review of objective results.
Responsible for working with the Sr. Manager of Alabama works for the development of the plant’s annual operating budget; the implementation of a plan to achieve budgetary requirements; and the monthly and annual review of budgetary results.
Insures the efficiency of all production operations at the plant and insures that all work is performed safely and that the plant is properly maintained and kept in a neat and orderly condition.
Responsible for assisting in the development and supported implementation of a long range capital expenditure plan.
Insures that the plant’s production centers operate in compliance with all governmental regulatory requirements.
Reviews for approval all Personnel Actions affecting salaried employees needed for production at the plant.
Monitors manpower utilization for production centers at the plant and reviews for approval all requests for increases in the workforce.
Responsible for supporting the Human Resources function around the planning production facility headcount and following the Collective Bargaining agreements.
Insures that all products produced at the plant and shipped to customers from the plant meet quality and customer requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Scope Data/Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
The employee will be working in a plant environment with limited business travel. However, it will require some work in the plant, thus exposing the employee to Foundry operations. The employee will be exposed (very briefly) to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, Walking, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Talking, Seeing, Hearing, and Sitting. The majority of the actions will be sitting.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Traits:
Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business, or Finance is required. Must have at least five to seven years previous supervisory or management experience in a fast paced heavy manufacturing environment. Solid knowledge of processes involved in the manufacture of ductile iron pipe is a plus. Knowledge of cost accounting principles and financial statements, including P&L is required. Previous lean manufacturing experience is required. Previous experience motivating workforce through change management is required.
Proven supervisory and management experience on all levels are required.
Ability to plan and direct the work of workforce and insure training and development objectives are being met.

Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint software. Previous SAP, Minitab, SharePoint knowledge is a plus.
