Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks a full-time HR/Payroll Specialist. The HR/Payroll Specialist is directly responsible to the Director of Human Resources for monthly payroll processing and associated duties.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Greet and answer questions for current and prospective employees
  • Performs monthly payroll for all employees
  • Performs monthly balancing for monthly fringe closeouts and fringe checks (ex. ERS, TRS, SHBP, garnishments, etc.)
  • Processes on demand checks, payroll deductions, and miscellaneous payline information.
  • Prepare Quarterly DOL Report
  • Process employment verification requests.
  • Responsible for collecting timesheets monthly for all non-exempt employees.
  • Processes termination paperwork on all separated employees.
  • Responsible for checking the timekeeping system daily to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure all offer letters are received for Adjunct Instructors.
  • Prepare and explain employment packets to new part-time employees.
  • Serve as the contact person for the Georgia Defined Contribution Plan and ensure compliance with plan administration
  • Monitor all leave management processes
  • Responsible for Records Management for all employees files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree *and* Three (3) years of payroll or related accounting experience

Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PeopleSoft HCM and Microsoft Office
  • Work Experience with Technical College System of Georgia payroll systems and/or experience within institutions of higher education, which includes demonstrated direct responsibility for entering and submitting payroll.
  • Active Notary Status
