Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Recognizing that Out of School Time programs are critical to a child's academic success in school, College Bound Dorchester provides students with a range of activities including homework assistance, writing, visual and performing arts, science exploration, physical education and field trips. The group leader position will work with the individual children and groups as designated by program needs.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan lessons and activities;
  • Set up and prepare daily activities;
  • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings;
  • Participate in trainings;
  • Collaborate and support as a team member;
  • Mentor individual youth and monitor their participation;
  • Follow all DEEC group leader practices;
  • Administration and record keeping related to the program;
  • Track and update all efforts and student progress using Efforts To Outcomes software, as well as maintaining all other required records;
  • Participate in relevant required trainings and seek out training opportunities that support professional development outlined in the Individualized Professional Development Plan;
  • Adhere to all protocols and norms for communication and professional conduct, e.g. Email and Phone Communication Protocol, Communication Norms;
  • Fulfill all outlined and related functions in a professional, timely, and thorough manner;
  • Complete other duties related to this position as assigned by your direct supervisor.

 

HOURS

M/T/Th/Fr: 2-6 PM

W: 11-6 PM

 

SALARY 

$11-12/hr





Skills/Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the qualifications listed below.  The qualifications listed are considered minimum qualifications, unless noted otherwise.

EducationA Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree and three months of experience working with school age children, OR a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of experience working with school age-children, including three months of supervised experience at a school-age child care program.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

A group leader shall be at least 18 years of age and meet the following sets of requirements:

  • First aid/CPR certified within first six months of employment;
  • Experience working with at-risk youth;
  • Must function independently and as a member of a team;
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook;
  • Experience working with performance data-base preferred;
  • Desire to work in a mission driven organization that is undergoing organizational change;
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize work, highly organized;
  • Spanish-speaking a plus.
