Job Description

College Bound Dorchester operates a small alternative middle school program in partnership with the Office of Education Options at Boston Public Schools This program is growing to approximately 60 students this year who are considered at-risk and over-aged for middle school. The primary goal of the program is to prepare these students academically and socially-emotionally for transition back into high school after one year.

The responsibilities of a teacher are twofold based on the school year calendar and the summer calendar. Our middle school follows the Boston Public Schools calendar for instruction; however, our teachers are employed by College Bound Dorchester and follow a 12-month administrative calendar working 12 months and taking paid time off when needed and approved. During the traditional school year teachers provide content specific instruction to students in order to prepare them to integrate back into mainstream education with the ultimate goal of entering a competitive, college-focused high school program. Summer school program operates during a portion of the summer with a modified schedule. Teachers continue to teach assigned students during the summer, as well as participate in activities to prepare for the following school year.
