The Director, Global Product Marketing will manage the marketing of major product and solution offerings within the Aptean Product Groups. This includes owning and documenting the buyer and user personas, understanding the customer buying journey, creating the messaging (value proposition, differentiation) and the key assets in support of marketing to those personas, and product or solution launch management as needed. The role also includes significant analysis, such as market opportunity analysis, competitive analysis, buyer and user analysis, and product analysis. In addition to working with the product teams to create messaging, s/he must also drive messaging and positioning through all internal and external channels of communication – working closely with other marketing team members on final execution. The Director will be a key go-to person for his/her counterparts in the program management, product management, portfolio and other teams. This is a global management role with responsibility to recognize and adapt strategies and messages for different regions.

The Director, Global Product Marketing will both manage the product marketing team, as well as serving as the product marketer for one product line.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Product Marketing

  • Analyze and size the market opportunity; drive product, solution and marketing strategies to maximize revenue growth and current customer retention
  • Drive and coordinate development of messaging
  • Articulate positioning, implement and present messaging through all internal and external communication channels, specifically: sales force tools and training, customer-consumable collateral, key speaker representation and quality of presentations and coordinating product and solutions demonstration and presentation plans
  • Work with Product Business Leaders and Product Management to promote key product features to meet current and emerging market needs
  • Coordinate product launches together with product management, corporate marketing, and other stakeholders
  • Create and refine key marketing assets
  • Work closely with Corporate Marketing to build analyst relationships, provide analyst coverage and coordinate analyst survey responses
  • Research and define new solutions that leverage products to address specific and/or vertical business requirements
  • Coordinate integration marketing activities within acquired companies.
  • Work closely with Product teams to understand the strategy/plan/roadmaps for the product lines globally.
  • Align and manage budget and resources to support the plan using vendor, budget and project management skillset.

     

    Staff Management

  • Set SMART objectives for subordinate team members that reflect the marketing priorities and review progress and achievement in line with Aptean HR procedures in a timely manner.
  • Act as mentor and identify career development aspirations and opportunities for their team members




Skills/Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred

Work Experience:  

Typically requires a minimum of 12-15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 10-12 years and a Master’s degree. Typical range of experience is 12-18 years.

 

Knowledge:

  • Familiar with B2B sales and marketing techniques and/or previous work experience in the software/IT sector. ERP/SCM/CRM experience is a strong advantage.
  • Understanding of product marketing conceptual frameworks such as Pragmatic Marketing or Sirius Decisions.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to understand and translate product capabilities to buyer and user benefits.
  • Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written, other languages a plus.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, as well as work non-traditional hours to accommodate multiple time zones.
  • Familiar with AP/journalistic style and marketing communications writing styles for multiple mediums.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to drive projects within a cross-functional team and work well under deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, time management and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing demands and market conditions.
  • Commitment to teamwork and ability to operate in an international matrix management environment.
  •  Problem solver and results oriented.
  • Leadership experience with experience being remotely managed and managing remotely.
