Job Description

St. John's Episcopal Hospital is recruiting for a Manager of Grant Accounting. This role includes monitoring and reporting requirements of approved grants. The Manager works closely with staff involved with grant programs. In addition, will work with Reimbursement and Finance Staff to assist with ongoing responsibilities within those departments.

The Manager of Grant Accounting serves as the point person for ensuring compliance with all grant obligations for grant-funded programs. It will be helpful to have knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance to ensure that the agency is current with all grant compliance developments. The Manager of Grant Accounting provides analysis and oversight to ensure compliance, and serves as a resource to staff of grant-funded programs for fiscal and programmatic compliance matters. This position will require strong interpersonal communication skills, frequent coordination with staff at all levels of the organization, and exceptional attention to detail.

Skills/Requirements

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reporting financial data to various local, state, and federal agencies. Prepares and/or reviews all financial reports required by government contracts and grants
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets (expense, revenue and capital) associated with grants
  • Coordinating with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure compliance with grants is maintained
  • Providing assistance in developing and executing accounting principles and procedures
  • Track all expenditures related to grants
  • Supporting other Finance team members in general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and budgeting activities
  • Must be able to demonstrate active knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in daily execution of accounting functions and tasks.
  • Provide back-up to other department staff, as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other related degree
  • 5+ years of financial analysis/auditing, or similar experience required
  • Must have previous grant accounting and reporting experience, including exposure to governmental laws and regulations related to federal programs and financial reporting for grants
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must be self-motivated, capable of taking initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing priorities, and effectively manage deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at various stages of development.
  • Must possess strong Microsoft Office experience (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • This position will be based in the Bethpage corporate office but will require travel to various hospital sites for meetings. Must have a car for this purpose.
