Job Description

The Regional Trainer (RT) will focus on the implementation, delivery, and monitoring of product-specific training programs to our field based support team. Reporting to the Training Operations Manager, the goal of the Regional Trainer is to ensure that new members of the field team progress along the projected certification pathway consistent with company standards and that they perform at the highest levels of proficiency, assuring safe and effective application of our products.  The RT will be responsible for the preparation of new clinical and sales personnel, utilizing the established training programs and assessment processes (including necessary course correction activities), for the national certification exam administered by a National Trainer.  The RT also works to support regional initiatives and needs as requested by the Clinical Operations Director or Regional Director.  Additional duties will include supporting the activities associated around our corporate based initiatives for external training and education.    

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead in preparing the field-based patient support team in the training and competency requirements for those who support cases and train customers.
  • Participate in the Train –the –Trainer process and to act as a best-practices coach to Abiomed field team members.
  • Plan and organize product specific regional training in coordination with product simulator technologies, new product introduction or product updates as requested by the Regional Leadership Team.
  • Contribute to the design and production of material and programs used in customer training.
  • Contribute, review, and identify areas of improvement in the ongoing efforts to make the product instructions and support material a valuable resource tool.
  • Participate in clinical discussion and deep dive opportunities with the ACTS team.




Skills/Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • BS in Nursing, Engineering or other clinical discipline.
  • Must possess a passion for training and education and be recognized as an Impella “clinical expert”.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience with a successful track record as an Abiomed Clinical Consultant.
  • Must have strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, coaching and motivational skills.
  • Must be a Self-reliant; takes initiative; results-oriented, open minded and approachable.
  • Ability to influence all levels of management and employees.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively and frequently (oral and written)
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. 
  • Ability to act independently to determine methods and procedures.
  • Requires a minimum of 75% travel – US and International
