We are currently seeking a North American Compensation and Benefits Specialist. This role requires you to work in a fast-paced environment where you need to be agile and quick to adapt to change, as acquisitions are a key aspect of our growth strategy. This role focuses on Benefits and Compensation and is a combination of administrative and strategic tasks, so you need to be able to do both well.

What will you be spending your time doing?

  • Oversee the administration, system input, and reporting of all benefit programs for the US and Canada (health benefits, 401k, RRSP, time off, disability, life insurance) from enrollment to termination and serve as the point of contact for all North American employee inquiries.
  • Conduct new hire benefit orientations and enrollments to ensure employees understand their total compensation and make informed decisions around these offerings.
  • Oversee and advise on the annual benefit enrollment process (both Canada and US), including analysis and recommendations for plan changes to ensure we strike the right balance between being competitive in the market and remaining cost effective.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and know when to engage them to address questions or resolve issues.
  • Audit, verify and reconcile vendor bills and authorized payments. 
  • Take part in all compliance audits and reporting for compensation and benefits (e.g. FMLA for the US, 5500 filing, etc.).
  • Support acquisition integration by conducting benefit and compensation analysis, making recommendations on the best approach and then educating and integrating those newly acquired employees into the appropriate plans.
  • Support the company’s compensation program, which involves maintaining and updating various compensation tools for the North American region, such as reviewing survey data, creating pay ranges, analyzing geographic pay differential, and mapping new roles to their appropriate Job Table, Job Level, and Job Code when required. 
  • Review master compensation data monthly to ensure integrity of employee compensation data in HRIS.
  • Work closely with HR Team and Managers to ensure that the compensation program is being used and followed correctly.
  • Complete monthly cost analysis of the company benefit plans.




Skills/Requirements

The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, solid project management skills, sound judgment, a strong background in compensation strategy & process as well as US and Canadian benefits administration and analysis.  S/he will enjoy working in a fast-paced, complex environment supporting multiple countries and working as part of a global HR team.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. CEBS, SHRM, or other certification desired.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in North American compensation and benefits – preference given to those candidates with both US and Canadian experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Knowledgeable with ADP WorkforceNow or other HRIS required.
  • Advanced MS Office skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to lead and execute assigned projects.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with or without direct supervision.
