Product Leaders at Aptean are in the captain’s chair for their product suite. This includes defining the product strategy, becoming a guru on their market and ultimate accountability for the business results of their products. To make it all happen, the Product Leader chairs a cross-functional leadership team from development, professional services, sales and marketing that is laser-focused on executing our business strategy to the highest levels of success.

Responsibilities:

Market Expertise:

  • Discover and validate market problems through external data sources, including customer and prospect interviews, win/loss analysis and analyst relationships
  • Become an expert on Aptean’s technology and services solutions, including Aptean’s unique value proposition in the market, based on a thorough understanding of the market problems and competition
  • Position our products for all target markets and buyer types to differentiate our solution

Strategy Definition:

  • Define Aptean’s target markets through combining the market needs with quantitative market sizing and our distinctive competence
  • Determine the optimal distribution strategy and execute build/ buy/ partner decisions
  • Oversight and approval of all technical, marketing and service aspects of the product

Business Results:

  • Own key business results including revenue, EBITDA, and customer retention for a set of products
  • Manage the product P&L, including creation of the business plan and pricing, analysis of product profitability and making revenue and cost decisions
  • Build and maintain positive executive-level relationships with our customers




Skills/Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of hands-on product management experience with a B2B software company. 
  • Experience with Pragmatic Marketing or Sirius Decisions frameworks is strongly preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:  

Leadership:

  • Must possess solid leadership qualities with proven business results.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision and be accountable for actions and decisions.
  • Must have a track record of hiring, coaching and leading high performing teams.

Communication:

  • Must be a strong negotiator and facilitator with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to interface appropriately and present strategic direction at all levels (i.e. engineers, management, executives, customers).  

Financial & Data Analysis:

  • Must be able to summarize and synthesize product and industry trending data, along with competitive information, to inform our strategy.
  • Needs to apply knowledge of mathematical and statistical principles to forecast market and business results.

Product Life Cycle:

Must have working knowledge of the product life cycle phases, including engineering specifications, customer requirements gathering, software design and development, implementation/delivery and maintenance.
