Job Description

Hourly position Pay: D.O.E

Under the direction of Village Maintenance Management
Provides carpentry and maintenance services throughout the Snowbird Village.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1. Repairs damages in Snowbird buildings and fixtures (i.e. hangs drywall, patches, paints walls, repairs concrete walls and floors, builds and refinishes cabinets, repairs counters etc.). Performs in-house construction, including concrete and tile work, carpentry framing and building cabinets and signs.  
2. Order parts and prepares requisitions: Determines needed parts. Research pricing information in catalogue, prepares requisition and delivers to supervisor. Checks in parts with purchasing to verify it is the correct part ordered. Maintains inventory of replaced parts: Counts inventory and orders necessary material.
3. Cleans tools and shop at the end of the shift.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.
5. Travel: May need to drive to Salt Lake valley to pick up parts for emergencies.

1. Guest contact may occur frequently.  
2. Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management and other departments.
3. Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. 4+ years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
2. Valid Driver License with Clean MVR (driving records).
3. Requires 4 years of training in building construction.
4. Must demonstrate basic competency in reading, writing, speaking, simple arithmetic, and interpersonal relations.

Skills & Knowledge
Technical:    
Requires ability to read and write. Requires use of simple arithmetic with accuracy in counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Requires excellent skills in carpentry and cabinet making. Required to use hand tools and power tools. Responsible for care and maintenance of all equipment used. Will drive company vehicle and perform light maintenance throughout the village.

Administrative:
Requires problem solving and activity initiation within the position. All activities initiated needs to be done within cleared defined parameters set by policy and management. Must diagnose, design, and apply correct procedures in carpentry repair or construction work. Schedules major repairs as necessary. Follows safe practices on the job and while on Snowbird property, abides by all rules and regulations. Reports safety hazards or concerns to supervisor as soon as possible. Repairs are made to ensure safety of persons using facilities. Keeps shop and tools organized and prioritizes safety. Maintains accurate inventory counts of carpentry shop worth $10,000 and vehicle worth $20,000.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
1. Specific shift: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional overtime as needed.
2. Work requires rotating on call status, emergency call out, some overtime and extended hours.
3.  Some night shifts, weekends, holidays as needed and specified. A rotating swing shift may be required.

Mental:
Job activities consist of related steps, process, or methods. Decisions are made from various choices available. Requires the ability to discern between simple situations and apply alternatives. Actions are taken according to basic criteria, such sources of information, type of transactions, or other factual differences. Must be able to create and apply carpentry design principles to manufacture or repair structures as required throughout the resort.

Physical:
1. Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
2. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
3. Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
4. Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.  
5. Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
