As a critical member of Abiomed’s product portfolio team, the Sr. Product Manager is responsible for managing a portion of our award winning Impella product line. Responsibilities include identification of market opportunities, identifying and prioritizing high level product requirements, and sheparding those product requirements through development and manufacturing programs. Support for the sales organization including competitive pricing and product messaging are key. Department collaboration partners include engineering, sales, marketing, and manufacturing.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide cross-functional leadership to deliver annual business financial objectives for the assigned customer segments, products and service lines.   This responsibility includes:  
    • Providing cross-functional leadership for assigned products and services throughout the commercial lifecycle, including timing of market launch, scaling up/down of manufacturing run rates, assuring appropriate customer support during clinical adoption and on-going use, and end–of-life.
    • Design and execution of market analysis to manage pricing and assure accurate forecasting.
    • Development of product and service competitive positioning and messaging.
    • Maintaining high sales force effectiveness through collaboration with sales leadership.
    • Representing expert level knowledge of products & services to customers.
  • Support the definition and maintenance of a realistic and achievable rolling 5-year product & service roadmap that delivers high customer value and increasing profitability.  This responsibility includes:
  • Analysis of market trends, customer needs and competitive landscape in order to find new business opportunities and define a product & service offerings strategy including financial projections.
  • Driving dynamic product and service definition and development priorities based on VOC, development team capabilities, and profit-centric analyses.
  • Manage a high quality hand-off of prioritized product requirements to engineering and actively represent VOC during the product realization process in order to drive product quality and speed time to market introduction of new products.
  • Assure timely end of sale, end of manufacture and end of support for all products and services, including appropriate field notification processes.
  • Consistently promoting the Abiomed product & service strategies internally and with customers. 
  • Exhibiting professionalism and credibility through daily actions and interactions to establish and maintain trust based relationships.
  • Establish a wide-spread network of productive relationships with thought leaders, leading institutions, societies, and other corporate entities and leverage these relationships to deliver tangible business benefit.
  • Serve as an Abiomed ambassador internally and to the clinical community.  This responsibility includes:
  • Assure quality system and regulatory compliance in all activities and markets.

 





Skills/Requirements
  • MBA/Masters degree preferred.
  • 5 - 10 years of product management experience in a medical devices company (cardiovascular, Class III device experience preferred)
  • Experience with usability definition (new 510K requirements from FDA) and testing is a plus
  • Proven success taking product from totally new concept (whiteboard) through strategy development, feature requirements definition and product launch
  • Demonstrated collaborative leadership experience with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent analytical and business/product strategy skills
  • Ability to quickly understand and effectively communicate about new technologies
  • Ability to set direction in highly dynamic environment
  • Self-reliant; takes initiative; results-oriented, open minded
  • Polished oral, written & presentation skills
  • Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally approximately 35% of the time
