Aptean is looking for a Technical Writer who will work with a team of Documentation professionals to help produce high-quality commercial documentation for Aptean's software.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1.Design, develop, and write technical product documentation according to departmental guidelines for a variety of audiences including business analysts, system administrators, developers and end users.

2.Support the documentation development life cycle (DDLC) and contribute to the development of internal documentation standards and methodology.

3.Work proactively with project teams to ensure that all product documentation is technically accurate, comprehensive and in conformance with Aptean's documentation standards.

4.Coordinate with editors to ensure that all documentation deliverables meet requirements for developmental edits, copy edits and proofing.

5.Write, edit and revise a variety of technical user documentation such as on-line help, service pack notes and articles.

6.Participate in functional specification reviews, development design reviews, quality assurance test plan reviews, documentation reviews and other DDLC & SDLC quality assurance best practices.

7.Work with Documentation Manager, Documentation Lead and project leadership teams to schedule and track documentation milestones; ensure that the documentation is developed and delivered according to the established schedule.

8.Write documentation plans, content specifications and other project documents that support content development throughout the DDLC.

9.Research, develop and edit content quickly and independently.

10.Create and maintain online help, quick reference guides, installation & upgrade guides, system administration guides, developer reference guides, release notes, database schemas and other such product documentation deliverables.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communications,

Technical Writing, Education, or a similar field.

Minimum Experience Required:

*Strong verbal and written communication skills with an excellent command of the English language, characterized by a strong grasp of English grammar, style, tone, spelling, and punctuation .

*2+ years experience as a technical writer in the software industry,

*Experience employing a full commercial software development lifecycle methodology (SDLC).

*Demonstrated professional experience designing and authoring highly technical product documentation for end users, system administrators, and software developer audiences.

*Demonstrated knowledge of the commercial software development process and the document development life cycle (DDLC).

*Familiarity with the Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications and the Chicago Manual of Style
