North American (US and Canada) Benefits Specialist will provide benefit support for our employees around health and welfare benefits, 401K/RRSP, time off benefits, disability, FMLA (US Only) and voluntary benefits. S/he will assist in the annual benefits open enrollment process and weekly (or as needed) new hire orientations. The Benefits Specialist will actively participate in acquisition integration by providing analysis and education around to newly acquired employees regarding changing benefits plans.  The Benefits Specialist will also create and maintain a Wellness Program that promotes healthy living and proactive management of health goals.  The Benefits Specialist will deliver superior service to all plan participants and will efficiently and effectively resolve participant issues.

The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, solid project management skills, sound judgment, a strong background in process improvement, and the ability and desire to work in a complex environment supporting multiple companies in a shared services model. He or she will also have superior written and oral communication skills and the ability to work across all levels of the organization. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 2-5 years of benefits administration experience, advanced MS Excel skills, and HRIS experience required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the administration of all benefit programs.
  • Assist associates with benefit inquiries to ensure quick, equitable, and courteous resolution.
  • Processing new enrollments benefit changes, and terminations.
  • Maintaining vendor contact to investigate problems and resolve non-routine situations.
  • Explaining company insurance programs to employees and dependents.
  • Audit, verify, and reconcile vendor bills and authorized payments.
  • Maintain and update employee benefit files, benefit database, and other record keeping.
  • Ensure the accuracy of benefit enrollments and corresponding payroll deductions.
  • Responsible for FMLA tracking and administration.
  • Will create and distribute monthly or ad hoc benefit reports.




Skills/Requirements

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. CEBS, SHRM, or other certification desired
  • Minimum two (2) - five (5) years of experience in benefits administration.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Service-oriented; kind, compassionate, and willing to work hard on another person’s behalf.
  • Knowledgeable with ADP WorkforceNow or other HRIS required.
  • Advanced MS Office skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to organize and execute assigned projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment law and regulations.
  • Excellent problem solving skills; ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
  • Ability to work well with all levels within the organization.
  • Self-motivated with a strong aptitude and desire to learn.
  • Ability to work with or without direct supervision
