Business Development Manager – Victoria

AFC / AFL designs, manufactures and integrates fibre optic and copper communication solutions. With a passion for innovation and product development, the company offers a large range of quality products. Recently AFL acquired AFC and now have two large factories in Croydon and Tottenham Victoria, providing local manufacture and service. In addition we have offices and warehouses in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide and Auckland.

AFL also has operations in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Europe and Asia. The company is headquartered in South Carolina and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujikura Ltd. of Japan

Together we provide industry-leading products for the Infrastructure, Telecommunications, Enterprise, and Industrial markets. The company's diverse product portfolio includes fibre optic cable, connectors, outside plant equipment, connectors, fusion splicers and test & measurement equipment.

 With two manufacturing facilities, seven branch offices and 140 staff, we continue looking for growth and expansion in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

 A Business Development Manager role has become available in our Melbourne branch due to growth forecasts and the continued emphasis on innovation across the communications industry.

As a Business Development Manager, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Meet and exceed monthly sales target
  • Have a solid local business network
  • Generate leads through cold calls and networking functions, marketing and referrals
  • Plan and prioritise sales activities and customer contact
  • Plan and manage your own business portfolio and territory
  • Provide excellent & responsive service, support and technical knowledge.
  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers, pro-active maintenance of existing client base
  • Monitor and report on market and competitor activities
  • Plan and execute local marketing activities
  • Develop Staff trough training, performance evaluations and counselling




Skills/Requirements

To be successful in the role, you will ideally possess:

  • 5 year plus sales experience within either the fibre optics, IT, electrical or related fields
  • In-depth knowledge of the ACT/NSW market with a contact base across the Enterprise market within the End User and Contractor Space (Education, Government & Finance) and with a large focus in Data Centres
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Outstanding prospecting and business development skills and huge appetite for KPI achievement
  • Solutions focused / problem solving skills
  • Team development and organisational skills
