Job Description

Reconciles most general ledger accounts.  Supervises another accountant in reconciling accounts before closing and reviews monthly reconciliation for accuracy.  Assists various external auditors in the completion of their audits.  Files various regulatory returns including 5500, sales and use tax.  Also files various census reports.  Prepares daily statistical report.

Guest Contact: Indirect and occasional contact with guests.
Internal Contacts: Direct and frequent contact with employees, co-workers, management, and other departments.
External Contacts: Direct and occasional contact with professionals, consultants, public, and vendors upon request.  
Supervision/Management: Plans, directs organizes, and controls work-time behavior of others.  Makes recommendations on hiring, retention, promotion, and discipline.  

Minimum Requirements:
Education:  Requires a college degree in Accounting.  Requires the ability to communicate orally and in writing with clarity and structure with a capacity for editorial enhancement.  Requires advanced skills in arithmetic, bookkeeping, computer spreadsheet applications, word processing, etc.     

Experience:  Requires five years of practical accounting experience with demonstrated competence.  Must have supervisory experience.

Specific Requirements:  Should have excellent spreadsheet skills and system related skills.  System implementation skills will be helpful.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Interactive Competencies:  Interacts with Purchasing Agents, Information Services, Programmers, Budget Director, Corporate Controller, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Departments.  Interacts with Department Managers and serves as an informational resource on accounting questions.  May communicate with outside resort agencies regarding business licenses and sales tax questions.

Technical Competencies:  Requires the operation of basic office equipment.  Responsible for the proper use and general care of office equipment.  Responsible for protection of assets by reconciling account balances to reflect actual monies paid and received.  Responsible for reporting of tax liabilities.  

Administrative Competencies: Requires problem solving and initiation of less clearly defined job activities.  May make relatively complex decisions about time allocation and manpower requirements.  Decisions may be made within broad policy parameters and procedural guidelines, where there may be more than one correct solution, and where guidelines may need interpretation.  Decides how to code expenditures to proper accounts.  Decides how to reconcile and transfer incorrect amounts to proper accounts.  Makes employees evaluations.  May consult supervisor regarding new hire pay rates, account adjustments or timetables for financial statements.

Physical Conditions:  Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult.  Work is performed in general office conditions.  
Mental Conditions: May experience some stress due to the importance of accuracy in accounting procedures and the variety of departments, personalities and situation that must be dealt with.
