Job Description

$12.00 + DOE

Under the direction of the Pastry Chef to provide quality baked goods throughout the resort.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1. Responsible for coordinating individual stations and maintaining line of communication with Pastry Chef, Sous Chef and other kitchen staff.
2. Reports to work on time in the proper uniform.
3. Obtains assigned station from Pastry Chef at the beginning of the shift. Prepares mis en place for his/her station and is ready to assist others if needed. Completes daily duties before and after the shift.
4. Keeps station neat and clean throughout service.
5. Follows recipes.
6. Ensures standards of appearance and sanitation are maintained on a daily basis. Maintains good safety practices throughout the kitchen.
7. Participates in ongoing employee training.
8. Takes fast and appropriate action to solve problems. Handles guest concerns in a professional manner.
 
Interactions
1. Occasional contact with guests.
2. Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management and other departments.
3. Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. 1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Food Handler Permit

Skills & Knowledge
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, verbal communication skills, as well as conflict management and dispute resolution skills.

Technical:
Must demonstrate competency in reading writing and arithmetic and have the basic knowledge of culinary terms and knife skills. In addition, must demonstrate ability to learn recipes, handle all kitchen equipment and learn basic kitchen techniques. Candidate must have the ability to multi-task e.g., prep several items at once and monitor baking times  while taking direction from the Chef or Sous Chef.

Administrative:
Position requires exercise of judgment within policy guidelines, problem solving and initiation of activities within job description and responsibility limitations. Also requires understanding of other Snowbird operations

Working Conditions & Work Schedule:
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels. Typically 5:00 am-1:00 pm. Flexibility required.
Mental:
1. Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
2. May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

Physical:
1. Requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
2. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
3. Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
