Job Description

*Pay Rate: $20.00 +  DOE

**Must be able to work any day of the week including weekends and holidays.


Under the direction of Vehicle Maintenance Manager.
Repair and maintain various resort fleet equipment, including light vehicles, heavy equipment and snowcats to assure that resort has reliable and safe equipment with minimal to no interruptions in service.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1. Repair fleet and resort motorized equipment as assigned in order to provide optimal equipment availability, safety, useful life and running time.
2. Record all mechanical work performed on maintenance work orders, record inventory and parts used and keep other records as necessary in order to assure accurate and complete maintenance histories.
3. Follow all safety procedures and practices in order to protect and assure personal safety and the safety of co-workers, equipment operators, the equipment and facilities.
4. Clean and organize the shop bays, tools, parts areas and general shop facilities in order to provide safe working conditions and efficient shop operations.
5. Record parts used and note parts to be purchased in order to assure proper parts are available when needed to reduce downtime and delay.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
7. Travel: Occasional trips to Salt Lake Valley.

1. Occasional contact with guests.
2. Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
3. Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Technical or mechanical training or apprenticeship program in diesel, truck, automotive mechanics or related specialties.
3. 2-4 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
2. Valid Driver License w/ Clean MVR
3. Must have own tools

Skills & Knowledge
Technical:
Demonstrated competence in the field of diesel and automotive mechanics; knowledge of skills with gasoline and diesel automotive engines, small gasoline engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, basic welding and hydro-static transmissions desirable.  Proven ability to follow manufacturers’ guidelines and procedures work safely.  Ability to problem solve and diagnose a variety of mechanical problems.  Knowledge of automobiles, heavy construction equipment, snowplows and light equipment such as: snowmobiles, ATV’s, snow blowers and lawn mowers.

Administrative:
Ability to read and write, perform simple mathematics with accuracy, and follow directions and procedures.  Ability to maintain accurate records of work performed, record parts orders and work orders.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
1. Regularly scheduled work shifts, requires being on-call and working weekends, holidays, and some evenings.
2. Specific Shift: Summer: Monday-Friday, Winter: 5 days/week (Shop is open 7 days/wk.) – Shift: 8:30pm-4:00pm.

**Shift hours may vary depending on work load.

  Weekends and holidays required.  Occasional overtime possible.

Mental:
1. Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
2. May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

Physical:
1. Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
2. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
3. Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
4. Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.  
5. Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
