The Senior R & D Technician supports the realization of new product ideas by developing and implementing techniques for the fabrication, assembly, and testing of electro-mechanical and optical prototypes. This role also supports the refinement and transfer of techniques developed for prototyping into repeatable processes. Execute build and test plans to support verification and validation activities. Work closely with engineering staff to adapt to challenges and devise alternate solutions.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and execute fabrication, assembly, and testing tasks
Maintain accurate records of prototypes (materials, assembly techniques, etc.)
Maintain accurate test records (results, experimental setups, etc.)
Design and manufacture simple test or assembly fixtures
Comply with document control and process ECO’s/MPL’s
Provide guidance to less experienced technicians
Troubleshoot product failures to determine root cause, develop and test solutions
Build and test feasibility and pre-verification product lots
Skills/Requirements
Job Qualifications:
High School diploma required. AS in a technical field preferred
4-8 years of related experience. Medical device experience preferred.
Working knowledge of CAD software.
Ability to execute tasks in a timely manner under minimal supervision.
Able to prioritize tasks.
Advanced skills with metal and plastic machining and joining.
Familiarity with electro-mechanical devices, circuitry, and fiber optics desired.
Computer literacy required, Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP desired.
