This position will be responsible for financial reporting including external financial statements.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for providing guidance on technical accounting issues or questions, including but not limited to purchase accounting, software revenue recognition, goodwill, etc.  This role will support the Regional Finance Directors as needed regarding accounting matters.

Scope: Participates with other directors to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensure operations effective achievement of objectives.

Complexity: Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company. Participates in the corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.

Supervision: Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers within the company. Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.

Interaction: Regularly interacts with executives and Aptean VP’s and directors. Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for preparation and presentation of external financial statements, including footnotes.   
  • Main contact for external auditors.  Responsible for coordinating audit and ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Responsible for preparing debt covenants. 
  • Lead monthly close meetings for each region and entity.  Ensure follow-up questions are addressed by local accounting teams.
  • Ensure that global process and procedures are in place for consistent accounting policies across regions.   
  • Research technical accounting issues to ensure proper accounting under US GAAP.
  • Responsible for all purchase accounting for acquisitions, including working with external firms.
  • Lead accounting project for revenue convergence 




Skills/Requirements

Education 

Bachelor's degree and CPA required. Masters degree, and experience with public accounting firms preferred. 

Work Experience 

Typically requires a minimum of 16 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 13 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience. Typical range of experience is 16-19 years.

Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP required, including purchase accounting and software revenue recognition.
  • A combination of public accounting experience and industry experience is preferred.
  • Previous management experience is required

Skills and Abilitiies 

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Must be knowledgeable with accounting systems (including general ledger systems / ERP and expense reimbursement), and preferred experience with time tracking systems.
  • Must have experience with multinational accounting locations.
  • Must have experience with cross-charges, allocations, and transfer pricing.
