Job Description

 
Under the direction of the Director of Retail, manage two retail locations in the Cliff Lodge, Marco Polo and Cliff Sundries. Responsible for running all aspects of the operations in a manner that meets business objectives.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1.    Responsible for ensuring that the stores deliver excellent customer service.  Establishes and monitors staff adherence to customer service goals and guidelines.  Ensures that any guest complaints are dealt with promptly and effectively.  
2.    Responsible for the buying and product mix in the Center Sundries store. Will work as part of a buying team to develop a new product mix for the Marco Polo store.
3.    Responsible for all aspects of inventory management, including creating items and purchase orders and conducting regular physical inventory counts.
4.    Works with Retail Administration and Accounting to manage monthly operating budgets in order to meet company performance and profit expectations.
5.    Responsible for managing daily transactions in a manner that accurately accounts for cash and inventory.
6.    Maintains the store and storage areas in a safe, clean and organized manner in order to minimize risk to employees, guests and the inventory.
7.    Works with Human Resources to interview, hire, motivate and train employees.  Staffs the operation to achieve the highest level of guest service and store maintenance.  Strives to provide a goal oriented, win-win working environment.
8.    Works as part of a retail management team.  Assists in setting divisional goals.  Supports and implements company and divisional policies.  Willing to assist in other areas of retail operations as assigned by Retail Administration.
9.    Travel: Occasional business trips within/outside Utah.

3.    Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
4.    Management of 4-6 full time equivalent employees.
5.    Budget and sales responsibility of up to one million.
6.    Inventory management.

Education & Experience Requirements
-  College degree in related field preferred.  Additional related work experience may be substituted for education.
-  2-4 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
- Applicants should have a background in purchasing, merchandising and selling. Experience buying retail sundries, souvenirs, jewelry and gift items is preferred.

Specific Requirements:
-  Must be at least 21 years of age.

Technical:    
Reading, writing and arithmetic with accuracy.
MS Word and Excel proficient.
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, WinRetail (inventory/backoffice), Siriusware (Point of Sale), Kronos (payroll system), and other retail management systems.
Accounting skills, including the ability to compile operating budgets, analyze profit and loss statements and strategically manage inventory levels.   

Administrative:    
Work with a large degree of autonomy.  
Exercise judgment in accordance with company and divisional policies and procedures.
High degree of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a sometimes deadline driven or stress-related work environment.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
-  Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
      
Mental:
-  Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
-  May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
Physical:
-  Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
-  Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
-  Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
  General office environment with limited physical activity.
-  Work is routine in pleasant, comfortable surroundings.  General office conditions prevail.  
-  Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
