**This person can live in the Central US, and travel, does not need to be Ohio**

The Field Reimbursement Specialist is responsible for continual development of reimbursement programs and tools for Abiomed’s hospital clients and field based teams.  Analysis of key customer needs including coding (ICD-9/ICD-10,  DRG, CPT), claims denials, procedural documentation, and quarterly business reviews with hospital and physician group reimbursement teams.     

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with hospitals to evaluate reimbursement activities and overall financial environment relating to their Impella and LVAD technologies.
  • Develop tracking, reporting, and analysis systems for internal reimbursement programs such as new initiatives, training, problem reports.
  • Develop effective communication materials that clearly explain reimbursement procedures and options to customers
  • Support sales and clinical teams with reimbursement questions and issues in addition to training programs.
  • Work directly with regional Health & Human Services and U.S. Medicare Program to address hospital reimbursement issues including rates and local coverage decisions.
  • Manage relationships with Commercial Insurance service carriers to optimize reimbursement environment and coverage for Abiomed technology.

 





Skills/Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Position requires a BS Degree in related field, MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ year’s experience in the medical device or pharma industry
  • Must be a Certified Hospital Coder, or Certified Professional Coder, or Certified Cardiology Coder
  • Knowledge of Healthcare industry and working knowledge of Reimbursement
  • The ability to work with government organizations, hospitals,  sales, clinical teams and customers is critical.  Requires strong communication and organizational skills and excellent presentation skills.
  • Travel required, 60% weekly
