Retail Manager- Center Sundries

Under the direction of  the Director of Retail
Manages  Center Sundries, a retail store selling various retail sundries, souvenirs, gift items and snacks, as well as offering the services of a Pharmacy and Post Office.  

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1.    Responsible for ensuring that the store delivers excellent customer service. Establishes and monitors staff adherence to customer service goals and guidelines. Ensures that any guest complaints are dealt with promptly and effectively by implementing a customer dispute resolution policy
2.    Works with Retail Administration and Accounting to manage monthly operating budgets in order to meet company performance and profit expectations.
3.    Responsible for the store's product mix and all aspects of inventory management. Is responsible for keeping the store well merchandised in a timely manner, within budgetary constraints. Conducts physical inventories to reconcile inventory balances at regular intervals.
4.    Responsible for managing the store's daily transactions in a manner that accurately accounts for cash and inventory.
5.    Maintains the store and storage areas in a safe, clean and organized manner in order to minimize risk to employees, guests and the inventory.
6.    Manages the Post Office in strict adherence to the United States Postal Service contract.
7.    Works with Human Resources to interview, hire, motivate and train employees. Staffs the operation to achieve the highest level of guest service and store maintenance.  Strives to provide a goal oriented, win-win working environment.
8.    Works as part of a retail management team. Assists in setting divisional goals. Supports and implements company and divisional policies. Willing to assist in other areas of retail operations as assigned by Retail Administration.
9.    Travel: Occasional business trips within/outside Utah.

3.    Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
-  High School Diploma or equivalent required.
-  College degree in related field preferred. Additional related work experience may be substituted for education.
-  2-4 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
-  Must be at least 21 years of age.

Skills & Knowledge
Technical:    
Reading, writing and arithmetic with accuracy. MS Word and Excel proficient. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, WinRetail (inventory/back office), Siriusware (Point of Sale), Kronos (payroll system), and other retail management systems. Accounting skills, including the ability to compile operating budgets, analyze profit and loss statements and strategically manage inventory levels.
Must have the ability to handle, process, maintain and protect guest personal information, including credit card information, in compliance with all company or department policies and procedures according to PCI rules and requirements. This includes privacy and confidentiality, reporting, storage and disposal of sensitive information.  Will not share or disclose any guest personal or financial information to anyone unless authorized by the guest, manager or company or unless disclosure is permitted within departmental policies and procedures.

Administrative:    
This position requires knowledge and understanding of PCI DSS, including the safe and secure handling and maintenance of personal, financial and credit card information of guests/customers.
Work with a large degree of autonomy.  Exercise judgment in accordance with company and divisional policies and procedures. High degree of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a sometimes deadline driven or stress-related work environment.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
-  Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.

Mental:
-  Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
-  May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
Physical:
-  Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
-  Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
-  Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
