Job Description

The Cliff Lodge at Snowbird is one of North America’s most iconic ski lodges. Every room opens up to breathtaking views of the majesty of Little Cottonwood Canyon. The Cliff Lodge is Forbes Travel Guide Recommended and has recently undergone a large remodel to include modern touches.

Snowbird is looking for an experienced Director of Housekeeping who loves hospitality, has great communication skills and can motivate team members to live up to their highest potential.

Under the direction of The Cliff Lodge General Manager directly supervises up to 80 Team Members including Floor Inspectors, Houseperson, Laundry Attendants and any personnel under the Housekeeping department.  The Director will be responsible for cleanliness in all 514 guest rooms, including condominiums and public areas throughout the hotel.  

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1. Oversees overall operation of the Housekeeping Department.
2. Provides outstanding guest and owner service. Resolves any owner or guest situations.
3. Ensures outstanding and timely cleanliness standards. Communicates with housekeeping staff to keep them informed of rules and procedures. Maintain a high standard of work quality. Implements and monitors daily, weekly and bi-annual cleaning projects. Prepares work schedules for Houseperson and Housekeeping staff.
4. Communicate with management and other departments.
5. Insure that all housekeeping equipment is in good and safe conditions.
6. Assist with the planning and implementation of deep-cleaning projects that are scheduled for maintenance and renovation periods.

3. Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. College degree in related field preferred.  Additional related work experience may be substituted for education.
3. 2-4 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:

    Must be at least 21 years of age.
    Fluent in Spanish.

Skills & Knowledge
Technical:    
Use of general office equipment such as computer, printer, calculator, fax machine and copier. Use of all cleaning equipment. Requires the written and verbal communication skills with some precision in grammar, punctuation, and spelling. May require some math or basic bookkeeping skills. Ability to work well with co-workers or others in structured and unstructured situations. Must be able to interact with customers, guests, and owners in a friendly and accommodating manner. Requires some exercise of judgment within policy guidelines and without supervisory approval. Has significant input into decisions made by others.  May select solutions from a number of established courses of action.

Administrative:    
Plans and develops workloads, scheduling and coordination of employee activities. Interviews, hires, trains and evaluates housekeeping personnel. Responsible for the safety of guest belongings. Informs staff of any safety instructions for using chemicals or equipment. Consistently enforces all rules and regulations. Remains alert for unsafe conditions and takes immediate and appropriate action to correct any irregularities found. Responsible for making both the workplace and employees as safe as possible. Trains employees in proper safety procedures. Accident prevention is a normal part of the job. Responsible for the care and repair of equipment. Responsible for all keys issued to employees. Responsible for washers, dryers and all housekeeping supplies to ensure the preservation of Snowbird property. Performs other duties as necessary.

Working Conditions & Work Schedule:
  Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
    
Mental:
  Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
  May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
Physical:
  Must be able to lift 25+ lbs.
  Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
  General office environment with limited physical activity.
  Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
