Assistant Bell Captain


Under the direction of  Cliff Lodge Bell Captain
Assists Bell Captain in supervising Bell staff. Assists guests with luggage and transportation needs. Monitors bell storage. Shuttles guests around resort in company vehicles.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1.    Escort incoming hotel guests to rooms and assist with luggage. Be visible and available in the lobby to assist guests when required. Ensure guest name usage whenever possible. Maintain eye contact with guest.
2.    Ensure that luggage is safe and not left unattended. Ensure that luggage is placed in the trolley properly, and handled with care. Deliver luggage to guests’ rooms within 15 minutes of guests’ arrival. When rooming a guest, luggage should be placed on luggage rack. After rooming, should offer further assistance.  
3.    Provide information pertaining to points of interest and entertainment attractions.
4.    Arrive at the guest room to collect luggage within eight minutes of the guest’s call when the guest is departing.
5.    Answer the telephone within four rings with a clear and audible greeting, and close the conversation with a pleasant final remark. Keep record of calls for service (check-in, check-out, miscellaneous). Assist in accurate maintenance of bell desk log sheets.
6.    Assist in keeping the work area neat and clean.  Follow all applicable Occupational Health and Safety regulations.  Understand and adhere to procedure of master key usage.
7.    Explain features of room, such as operation of radio, television, housekeeping service, room safe and air-conditioning control. Consistently demonstrate personal guest service excellence. Be an ambassador for the hotel when in contact with guests. Maintain a high level of professionalism in all aspects of job performance.
8.    May also be responsible for shoveling snow and salting walkways and parking areas.
9.    Inform Bell Captain of ideas and suggestions in order to improve service. Shares relevant information with colleagues, either verbally or by means of e-mail and daily bell desk logbook.
10.    Travel: Occasional travel to/from resort.

1.    Direct and continuous contact with guests.
2.    Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management and other departments.
3.    Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
-  1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
-  Must be at least 21 years of age.
-  Must have a Valid Driver License w/ clean MVR (driving record)

Skills & Knowledge
Technical:    
Candidate must be able to read, write, and have good communication skills. Must be able to use arithmetic with accuracy in counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
Must have the ability to handle, process, maintain and protect guest personal information, including credit card information, in compliance with all company or department policies and procedures according to PCI rules and requirements. This includes privacy and confidentiality, reporting, storage and disposal of sensitive information.  Will not share or disclose any guest personal or financial information to anyone unless authorized by the guest, manager or company or unless disclosure is permitted within departmental policies and procedures.

Administrative:    
This position requires knowledge and understanding of PCI DSS, including the safe and secure handling and maintenance of personal, financial and credit card information of guests/customers.
Candidate must be reliable, mature and able to work with minimal supervision. This job requires some exercise of judgment within policy guidelines and without supervisory approval and some problem solving and initiation of activities within job description and responsibility limitations. Requires strong understanding of other Snowbird operations. Should be willing to accept responsibility for his/her actions.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
-  Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
-  Specific Shift: Any day of the week, flexible schedule between 6:00 am-12:00 am.
Mental:
-  Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
-  May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
Physical:
-  Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
-  Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
-  Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
-  Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.  
-  Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
-  Other/Additional:  May experience some stress due to periodic guest relations, also during high-occupancy periods.
