Job Description

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $23.00/hr D.O.E.

Purpose:  Maintains and repairs equipment related to plumbing.  Assists with maintenance of other building systems when needed.  
 
Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility: 
1. Maintains and repairs all plumbing equipment such as drains and pipes.  Repairs a variety of equipment (i.e. exchangers, boiler equipment, kitchen equipment, water pumps, pressure valves, steam cleaners, etc…)
2. Installs new plumbing equipment and systems for renovation and remodeling projects.
3. Repairs mechanical equipment when necessary.
4. Order parts and prepares completed work orders.  Determines needed parts.  Research pricing information in catalogues, prepares requisitions and delivers to supervisor.  Checks in parts with purchasing to verify that it is the correct order.  Maintains inventory.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Interactions
Guest Contact: Guest contact may happen frequently.
Internal Contacts: Works with employees within the Village Services department along with resort employees and management.
External Contacts: Works with various vendors in researching parts, materials and pricing.
Supervision/Management: May work with an apprentice.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Must have high school diploma or equivalent. 
Experience: 4 years job specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
Specific Requirements: Must have a Utah Journeyman Plumbing License.  Must have valid Driver License and clean driving record.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
Interactive Competencies: Requires the ability to relate well to co-workers and others.  Requires the ability to interact with guests and customers in a friendly and accommodating manner.
Technical Competencies: Requires plumbing and mechanical skills along with the ability to trouble shoot and repair problems to meet code requirements.  Reports all safety hazards or concerns to a supervisor as soon as possible.  Must be familiar with the safe and proper use of equipment including tools, solvents and chemicals used at the resort.
Administrative Competencies: Ability to read and write, perform simple mathematics with accuracy, and follow directions and procedures.  Ability to maintain accurate records of work performed, record parts orders and work orders. 

Working Conditions
Working Hours: General working hours from 8:00am-4:30pm with occasional overtime as needed.  Must be able to work weekends and holidays with occasional night shifts.  Position requires rotating on-call shifts, emergency call out and extended hours.

Physical Conditions: Work is subject to some interruptions, outdoor work in all weather conditions, noise and dirt.  Physical activity includes the ability to lift 100 lbs., frequent bending, stooping, crouching and extensive muscle exertion.

Mental Conditions: Requires the ability to work alone and with other employees.  Occasional stress from deadlines and customer department demands for equipment repairs and maintenance.  May experience stress from the commute to Snowbird, road closures and snow nights.

Travel: Travel between lodges and various areas at Snowbird.  Must travel occasionally to the Salt Lake Valley to pick up parts.
