Job Description

The Director of Institutional Research collects, manages, analyzes, and communicates institutional data to constituents to support decision-making, planning, assessment, accreditation, and compliance with standard and mandated reporting.  This position reports directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect, manage, analyze, and communicate institutional data to constituents to support decision making.
  • Works with senior administrators on the design and implementation of a comprehensive institutional effectiveness program, and directs and implements all operations associated with institutional research and analysis.
  • Supports the decision-making of planning, assessment, accreditation, and compliance with standard and mandated reporting.
  • Plans and implements institutional research projects; responds to requests for data; publishes an annual Fact Book, assists in accreditation/re-accreditation activities; supports academic departments during the program review process; and develops data to support implementation of the University’s strategic plan.

Work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.   This position is required to attend some university events and meetings.  Work hours average 45-50 hours per week





REQUIREMENTS

 

  • A minimum of two years of data acquisition and reporting preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with database analytical tools and statistical software.

  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge of research design, statistical methods, data gathering, and analysis and interpretation.

  • Excellent computer skills including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, web browsers, statistical packages, and administrative software.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a priority driven environment with strong attention to detail.

  • Education:  Master’s degree required.  Doctoral degree preferred; preferably in a data or research-oriented field, including training in research, evaluation, and statistical data analysis.

  • Experience with SCT Banner or comparable system is a plus.
