Job Description

 **You must be a current Snowbird Employee in good standing to be considered for this position.

Purpose
Under the direction of the Public Safety Director, Assistant Director and Manager, to act as a supervisor and perform the duties of a Public Safety Officer.
     
Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1.    Oversee and supervise department officers during shift and perform duties as Public Safety Officer.
2.    Schedule Officers for Swing and Graveyard shifts, control overtime
3.    Planning and schedule department personnel and resouces, find replacements for sick or vacation hours
4.    Document disciplinary action or recognition for Superior Performance.
5.    Delegate nightly duties to staff,  relay information on special events or assignments.
6.    Complete Officer Evaluations, 90 day Evaluation and Yearly Evaluation
7.    Under the direction of the Director and Manager, submit staffing  requisitions, interview applicants, complete necessary paperwork inclucing Status Change or Exit Clearance
8.    Interface with resort personnel, including Parking, Valet and Roads & Parking.
9.    Train, monitor and verify activitiy of  Officers whileon duty,  in the use of "Report Writer", "Returnity," key and vehicle check out, operation of  Alarm and CCTV equipment,  and all other tasks performed as a Snowbird Public Safety Officer.
10.   Possible operation of small snow plow as needed    
11.   Travel: Occasional travel to/from resort.

1.    Direct and continuous contact with guests.
2.    Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
3.    Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
1.  High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2.  6+ months of job-specific or equivalent work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
1.  Must be at least 21 years of age.
2.  Valid Driver License w/ clean MVR (driving record)

Skills & Knowledge
Technical:    
 Must be able use a computer and to communicate clearly and with precision in a variety of circumstances and conditions, both verbally and in writing, and interact with others in a friendly and accomodating manner.  Must maintain composure when dealing with others in sometimes stressfull and adversarial situations. Must be able to use the telephone and 2-way radio equipment, and drive assorted resort vehicles.  Monitor and operate alarm and CCTV equipment.   

Administrative:    
Requires some exercise of judgement within policy guidelines and without supervisor approval, and may select solutions from a number of established courses of action.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
1.  Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
2.  Specific Shift: Swing Shift: 4PM - midnight,  Graveyard Shift  midnight - 8 AM
Mental:
1.  Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
2.  May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
Physical:

1.  Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.  
2.  Work is routine in pleasant, comfortable surroundings.  General office conditions prevail.  
3.  Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise
