Education/Experience/Skills:

Required MD degree or equivalent with post-graduate training resulting in eligibility for United States Medical Board certification, preferably cardiology.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in clinical medicine, preferably interventional cardiology practice

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical organization, preferably medical affairs, clinical research, or pharmacovigilance
-
Expertise and demonstrated success in leading a Research team and efforts
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills
-
Excellent analytical skills, formal training in epidemiology and/or statistics preferred

Experience working with senior executives and Board of Directors

Demonstrated ability to lead teams in both a direct reporting and matrix environment

Strong interpersonal and team building skills

Ability to make critical business decisions and manage competing stakeholder expectations

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. (#LI-BM1)
Scope:
Responsibility for developing and executing the overall Research strategy and plan for Abiomed. Key member of the CMO leadership team and Medical Office. Develops methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of research and medicine as well as applicable regulations.
