Job Description

Pay: $10.50/hr + tips.  Willing to commit to work weekends from Aug 15th until Oct 11th and also Labor Day.

(Tips can average $3.00-5.00 per hour.  Also earn a bonus of up to 6 day ski passes for the coming season for working Oktoberfest.)

Purpose:
Under the direction of Banquet Manager, Assistant Manager and Banquet Captains.
To provide a positive experience to Oktoberfest guests and co-workers.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1. Service of Food and Beverage to the guest that exceeds their expectations and follows the standards of the department. Willing to do any job necessary to ensure the events success.
2. Set up and tear down of event per Captains direction.
3. Completion of assigned side work.
4. Reports to work on time and in proper uniform.

Positions Available:
Front line food service and Order takers – Stand in line interacting with every customer explaining menu, menu items and taking food orders so front line food servers can execute order efficiently. Front line food server processes orders written by order takers, they call out orders to kitchen of items that are made on the spot, dish up premade items and assemble on tray. Daily set up and tear down of event tent including sweeping, folding chairs, getting out and putting away all food tent supplies. Many difficult situations include, loud music, constant high volume with few to no breaks, outside environment (cold/hot weather, bright sun).

Oktoberfest busser and stocker  – Responsible for keeping the event tent clean by empting trash cans and taking bags to dock, bussing and cleaning trays, sweeping floor and keeping it free of debris, food, and spills.  Also keep event tent stocked with all items necessary to function including but not limited to beverages, condiments, and plastic wear. Daily set up and tear down of event tent including sweeping, folding chairs, getting out and putting away all food tent supplies. Many difficult situations include, loud music, constant high volume with few to no breaks, outside environment (cold/hot weather, bright sun).

Cashiers - 6 plus months high volume cashiering experience necessary. Must set up and tear down cashiering equipment daily, responsible for proper cash handling procedures, balancing till at end of shift, and keeping a clean and organized cashiering station. Many difficult situations include, loud music, constant high volume with few to no breaks, outside environment (cold/hot weather, bright sun).

Uniform – Solid black pants (must fit waist, no jeans or baggy pants), comfortable solid black shoes (no visible branding, closed toe and heel, black socks. We will provide 1 uniform shirt, apron, hat and name tag that must be worn everyday once you are clocked in. Weather varies greatly from day to day so always be prepared with jacket, hat and gloves, Oktoberfest will never be canceled for bad weather but we may send people home.

Interactions
1. Direct and continuous contact with guests.
2. Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
3. Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. 6 months of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
1. Must be at least 16 years of age.

Skills & Knowledge
Technical: 
Ability to follow directions, must be able to comfortably communicate in English, ability to work in either a team or individually without constant supervision.  Food Handlers Card or TIPS depending on job assignment.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
1. Specific Shift: 10:00am –7:00pm, Saturdays, Sundays, and Labor Day (Monday 9/1/14)

Mental:
1. Stress associated with high volume sales and heavy crowds; high noise level due to live entertainment and heavy crowds.

Physical:
1. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
2. Must be able to carry trays and other items needed for service.
3. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
4. Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
Other/Additional:  Outside environment in a mountain setting: weather will range from hot and sunny to cold and wet, possibly changing conditions drastically throughout the day and especially as we approach the later dates of the festival.  Walking through heavy crowds, up and down stairs, up and down hills.
