About Fraunhofer TechBridge:

The TechBridge Program is a commercialization model that leverages the worldwide Fraunhofer research network to support early-stage startups. TechBridge helps promising cleantech startups build, develop, and validate their technologies to accelerate commercialization by developing and testing prototypes, deploying field demonstrations, and performing third-party evaluation. About the Position: 

Fraunhofer CSE is looking for outstanding early-career candidates to support commercialization efforts of early-stage energy startups through the TechBridge Program (current or recent MBA or MS, or current PhD). This is an opportunity to work in one of the world's leading research organizations, developing a novel platform for commercializing alternative energy technologies. Fellows learn about cleantech innovation and commercialization, get exposed to cutting-edge technologies and startups as well as strategic partners and utilities, and engage in program development. Fellows go on to find successful employment in leading organizations because of the unique experience acquired with TechBridge. 

The TechBridge Fellow’s primary objective is to identify early stage energy technologies and develop technical development plans to meet market needs. Reporting to the TechBridge Program Manager, you'll be a key part of an energetic, innovative and dynamic team that shares a commitment to engineering excellence, combined with a passion for sustainable energy technology.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Identify channels of pre-qualified energy startups that face development challenges.
  • Contribute to evaluation of technical and business merits of early-stage companies.
  • Perform market research and analysis to provide feedback for energy business plans.
  • Develop scopes of work with lead CSE researchers to address industrial and investor interests; manage execution of projects.
  • Learn the technical and business aspects of energy technology innovation, working with and learning from a team that complements your own background and experience.

 

 

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Required: Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Required: Engineering or science undergraduate degree.
  • Strongly preferred: Previous experience in business development, sales engineering or management of technical projects involving outside parties.
  • Strongly preferred: Current or recent MBA or MS, or current PhD.
  • Preferred: Industrial experience directly related to energy-related technologies.
  • Preferred: Experience in market research and business plan development.

Eligibility:

In order to qualify, fellowship applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary academic institution OR have graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to their fellowship program start date.
