Job Description

The SCRUM Master is responsible for leading agile projects on a daily basis. The SCRUM Master must be skilled and highly effective at technical project management and possess strong leadership skills.  Also, he/She is an experienced project leader with very strong functional and technical skills.  The SCRUM Master is required to be a positive and effective communicator and will frequently lead facilitated meetings attended by both business and technology people.  The SCRUM Master is responsible to ensure the project team is working at the highest level of productivity and delivering business value to the organization via technology solutions.  Performance metrics should also be created and tracked as part of the agile transformation process.  The SCRUM Master champions the agile process in the team and/or organization within which they work and are capable of facilitation of activities across the agile lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in software design and development in a Medical Device Environment
  • Typical candidate has 5-10+ years experience in software development.  Part of that experience may be using traditional SDLC methodologies and part using agile methods
  • SCRUM Master tend to have either a strong technical or functional background, are experienced technologies able to coordinate and manage planning and resources
  • The SCRUM Master is the owner of the teams process and the primary facilitator of the teams activities
  • Must possess the ability to present complex information, negotiate with technical and business customers (scope, solutions, etc.), and lead to decisions
  • Must be skilled at conflict resolution
  • Ability to manage and deliver high quality software  applications in complex environments using agile methodologies
  • Manage and coordinate system and software development projects by scheduling and enabling the appropriate resources
  • Develop and manage the project schedule by determining (in conjunction with the business product owner, technical lead, peer groups in an enterprise setting, and the development team) the stories, tasks, milestones, dependencies, and risks.
  • Drives the delivery of the /application system to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget.
  • Project Management
    • Ability to give direction as project lead and execute tasks consistently
    • Ability to collaborate with project team members and other project teams to deliver results
  • Project Leadership
    • Understands and is a ‘servant leader’
    • Ability to mentor teams of software development professionals
    • Ability to lead teams of 8-10 people and have demonstrated ability to keep a team of that size fully engaged. 
    • Ability to provide functional or technical leadership as a SME in one or more domains.  Expected to rapidly learn the domain they are operating within if they do not have prior expertise.
    • Ability to lead and execute projects to successful completion




Skills/Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Typically BS in CS, Engineering or equivalent background.  MS preferred.
  • 8-10+ years SDLC experience, at least 2 years of using agile methods.
  • 2+ years SDLC experience in regulated industry (Medical Device is Mandatory)
  • Must understand concepts of agile software development methods and the underlying principles that govern them.
  • Ability to operate in diverse technical environments. High level of knowledge in how to apply technology to solve business objectives.
  • SCRUM Master certification a big plus
