Job Description

Purpose
Under the direction of  VP of Resort Operations & President/CEO.
Develops and implements marketing strategies and plans, manages a team of in-house marketing professionals tasked with the branding, media content and promotion, and provides intra-company marketing and content support for Snowbird's year-round operations.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1.    Oversee all event and revenue center promotional efforts including advertising, PR, social media, collateral, etc.  
2.    Create and manage large, year-round media buying schedule.
3.    Manage in-house ad agency with graphic designers, web, PR, social others.
4.    Proven human manager who can supervise diverse group of creative individuals.
5.    Manage third party contractors, projects and vendors as well as work with resort partners.
6.    Creative problem solving and promotional thinker.
7.    Travel: Occasional business trips within/outside Utah.

Interactions
1.    Occasional contact with guests.
2.    Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management and other departments.
3.    Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
1.  High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2.  College degree in related field preferred. Additional related work experience may be substituted for education.
3.  5-10 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
1.  Must be at least 21 years of age.
2.  Must be able to ski or snowboard and have the ability to pass a physical capacity screening.


Skills & Knowledge
Technical:    
Strong written and oral communication skills. Proven competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.  Requires proficient conceptual and/or creative skills.  May require the ability to apply advanced negotiation skills in working with others in situations that have little routine or structure. Requires significant input in major decisions affecting policies or procedures within the given area.  May involve group negotiations that affect profitability of services rendered.  Decides on effectiveness of present marketing programs and makes suggestions for program changes.  Should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Administrative:    
Directs and implements marketing strategies for the resort and individual departments.  Oversees, directs, and guides advertising, social media,  public relations staff, third party vendors, and independent contractors  in developing and initiating elements of Snowbird market programs.  Consolidates market research to determine appropriate target markets, market strategies and sales goals.  Develops marketing strategy to increase occupancy and group business.  

Proven skill and ability to develop and manage many different and unrelated processes and to apply substantial depth of analysis, typically for an administrative or professional field.  
Decisions regarding action include major areas of uncertainty in approach, methodology, or interpretation and evaluation of process resulting from such elements of continuing changes in program, technological developments, unknown phenomena, or conflicting requirements.  Requires origination of new techniques, establishment of criteria, or research and development of new information.  For example, must be able to oversee the origination of new and creative campaigns that result in profitable programs that attract new customer business.  Must meet the needs of a large diverse, independent and creative staff.  Responsible for major revenue producing marketing programs.  Primarily responsible for the marketing  of revenue producing packages and programs.   

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
1  Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
2.  Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with some nights and weekends as required by workload and special events.  
      
Mental:
1.  Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
2.  May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

Physical:
1.  General office environment with limited physical activity.
2.  Work is routine in pleasant, comfortable surroundings. General office conditions prevail.
