About the Position:

The Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE) is looking for a Member of Technical Staff – PV Scientist to join its Photovoltaic Technologies Group. The ideal candidate will bring PV device physics expertise to complement a strong team of technical staff who conduct applied R&D using both laboratory and outdoor PV testing facilities, and will also relish engaging with customers.  This is an opportunity to join a growing organization developing novel technologies and solutions in sustainable energy.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Contribute to development of advanced PV system/module performance analysis tools for field use
• Apply knowledge of device physics to address module material and design challenges
• Author proposals to commercial and government clients
• Execute research and development projects, including writing reports for customers
• Guide targeted efforts in lab and facility improvements

Required Experience and Education:

• MS or PhD in Physics or relevant field with 3-5 years of post-graduate experience
• Familiar with new and emerging PV module technologies
• Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python, etc) and numerical modeling software such as MATLAB/Simulink
• Skilled oral and written communicator
• Experienced in writing proposals and executing projects successfully, and in managing customer relationships
• Effectively collaborates in a team environment and has supervisory experience
• Creative, self-driven individual with a desire to expand capabilities, ability to quickly learn and adapt new skills
• Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment, applying knowledge to a broad array of situations
