Job Description

The Forklift restaurant is a great destination for skiers looking for a hearty, homestyle meal. Whether it’s a made-from-scratch blueberry pancake breakfast, a burger, or some après-ski snacks and cocktails, The Forklift serves all appetites and is located conveniently across the Plaza Deck from the Tram. It is the perfect place to set the skis outside, watch the snow fall, and recharge for the rest of the day. For over 30 years, The Forklift has been a satisfying family favorite and now, they are looking for a bartender to join their fantastic team.

Purpose
Under the direction of the Restaurant Manager    
Provide quality service to guests that exceed expectations.  Responsible for making and serving all alcoholic beverages in the restaurant and/or lounge.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1.    Prepares mise en place for assigned station, is ready to assist others if needed, completes daily duties before and after the shift in order to maintain appearance and cleanliness of station for guest service.
2.    Greets and informs guests of specials and menu changes, employs suggestive selling techniques in order to enhance the guest experience and to increase company revenues.
3.    Addresses and anticipates guest needs. Keeps tables and /or bar neat and clean throughout service. Provides guests with proper utensils and condiments. Keeps all water and beverage glasses filled as requested.
4.    Responsible for all financial transactions for services. Obtains bank at the beginning of the shift and verifies monies. Rings out guest checks and collects payments. Runs end of shift reports, counts out drawer and makes deposits. Reconciles receipts for total sales. Researches problems in Accounting.
5.    Maintains sanitation of area. Maintains good safety practices of employees and guests throughout the property. Follows state policies and regulations for serving alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner.
6.    Participates in ongoing employee training. Takes part in all sales goals and incentive programs in order to improve performance of guest service standards. Treats guests and employees with respect and in a pleasant manner, takes fast and appropriate action to solve problems, and handles guest and internal concerns in a professional manner in order to meet guest expectations and company service standards.

Education & Experience Requirements
1.  High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2.  1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
1.  Must be at least 21 years of age.
2.  Food Handler Permit, Tips Cert, Sheriff Work Card

Skills & Knowledge
Technical:    
Must demonstrate competency in reading, writing and basic communication skills. Must demonstrate ability to learn menus, recipes and wine lists. Must demonstrate competency in arithmetic with accuracy in counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Must demonstrate proficiency in handling and keeping record of large sums of money. Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, e.g., serve many guests at once and track tabs while maintaining good customer service and interactions between the dinning room and kitchen.
Ability to handle, process, maintain and protect guest personal information, including credit card information, in compliance with all company or department policies and procedures according to PCI rules and requirements. This includes privacy and confidentiality, reporting, storage and disposal of sensitive information.  Will not share or disclose any guest personal or financial information to anyone unless authorized by the guest, manager or company or unless disclosure is permitted within departmental policies and procedures.

Administrative:    
Knowledge and understanding of PCI DSS, including the safe and secure handling and maintenance of personal, financial and credit card information of guest/customers.
Requires some exercise of judgment within policy guidelines and without supervisory approval. Requires problem solving and initiation of activities within job description and responsibility limitations.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
1.  Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
2.  General shifts between 11am-4pm or  12-6pm.


Mental:
1.  Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
2.  May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

Physical:
1.  Must be able to lift 25  lbs.
2.  Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
3.  Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
