Volunteer Mountain Host position for 2015 -2016 ski season

Tentative start date, mid to late November 2015

Purpose
Under the direction of Skier Guest Services Manager.
This guest service position is designed to promote Snowbird, its facilities, and programs in a positive enthusiastic manner and to provide skier/mountain guest related services and assistance, both on the mountain and in the village to enhance the guest’s experience.  This is a volunteer position.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1. Meet and greet guest as they arrive each morning at Snowbird in order to provide a welcome to Snowbird, mountain and resort information, directions, and general customer service.
2. Exhibit a presence in high traffic areas on the mountain in order to enforce slow skiing and other mountain policies.
3. Administer ski industry surveys to guest in order to provide statistical information about who skies/rides with us.
4. Thank and provide information to departing guests in order to provide one last positive impression as guests leave Snowbird.
5. Assist all mountain operations departments and other departments within the resort if needed in order to maintain a specific level of customer service.

Interactions
1. Direct and continuous contact with guests.
2. Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
3. Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. 1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence. 

Specific Requirements:
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Must be able to ski or snowboard and have the ability to pass a knee physical.

3. Must be able to pass the black level ski test.

 

Skills & Knowledge
Technical: 
Must be a competent skier/rider, able to handle alone or with a group all levels or terrain and snow conditions at Snowbird. Must be flexible, self-motivated, problem solver, and be able to work well in unsupervised situations.

Administrative: 
Requires the ability to communicate in writing with some precision in grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
1. Specific Shift: Require a minimum of 20 days a season / 8.5 hour days (8:30-5), Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Mental:
1. May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

Physical:
1. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
2. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
3. Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
4. Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions. 
5. Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
