Job Description

Snowbird is looking for a sushi cook at our flagship restaurant, The Aerie, providing exquisite Modern-American Gastropub Cuisine. The Aerie focuses on local, seasonal and organic ingredients, as well as an award-winning wine list with over 1,000 wines. The recently renovated Aerie features a Cafe Lounge, Sushi Bar, Main Dining Room and Private Function Space. It sits on the top floor of the Cliff Lodge featuring breathtaking mountain views, live entertainment, and daily après-ski specials. We are looking for experienced sushi cooks willing to take on a new challenge and join our fantastic, dedicated staff.

Pay: $11.50 + D.O.E. with potential for tips

Purpose:
Responsible for coordinating individual station and communicating with front and back of house personnel to provide a dining experience that exceeds guest expectations.  

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1. Reports to work on time in the proper uniform.  Obeys all company rules and regulations.
2. Obtains assigned station from Chef at the beginning of the shift.  Prepares mis en place for his/her station and is ready to assist others if needed.  Completes daily duties before and after the shift.
3. Meets all guest needs during the course of the meal in order to achieve a positive dining experience for the guest.
4. Ensures standards of appearance and sanitation are maintained on a daily basis.  Maintains good safety practices of employees throughout the kitchen.
5. Maintains line of communication between Chef, Kitchen, Bar and Dining Room.
6. Takes fast and appropriate action to solve problems.  Handles guest concerns in a professional manner.


Interactions
1. Occasional contact with guests.
2. Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
3. Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6-12 months of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
• Food Handler Permit


Skills & Knowledge
Technical: 
Must demonstrate competency in reading, writing and arithmetic.  Ability to learn and develop all sushi recipes required.  Must demonstrate proficiency in handling all kitchen equipment and basic kitchen/sushi techniques.  Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, i.e., cook several orders at once while accepting direction for the Chef.

Administrative: 
Requires some exercise of judgment within policy guidelines and without supervisory approval.  Additionally requires problem solving and initiation of activities within job description  and have a strong understanding of other Snowbird operations.

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
• Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
Mental:
• Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
Physical:
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
