Job Description

This positions is open to current Snowbird employees who are in good standing.  Internal applicants only.


Under the direction of Program Specialist of Wasatch Adaptive Sports.  
Supervise instructors, perform lesson assessments before and after lesson with Program Specialist, help conduct clinics. Teach adaptive, alpine and Nordic skiing and snowshoeing in winter months to children, adults and veterans with special needs. Teach hiking skills, handcycling, bicycling, adventure studies, orienteering and related activities in summer months to children, adults and veterans with special needs.  

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility
1.    Teach winter and summer activities to children, adults and veterans with special needs
2.    Travel: Occasional trips to Salt Lake Valley.

Interactions
1.    Direct and continuous contact with guests.
2.    Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
3.      Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements
1.     High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2.     Associates degree in related field.  Additional related work experience may be substituted for education.
3.     1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:
1.    Must be at least 21 years of age.
2.    Must be able to ski or snowboard and have the ability to pass a physical capacity exam.
3.    PSIA Certification


Skills & Knowledge
Technical:    
2 year experience in teaching skiing and summer activities

Working Conditions
Work Schedule:
1.  Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
2.  Monday – Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, with some nights and weekends as required by workload and special events.  
3.  Specific Shift: Day shifts, 4-5 days per week, Mon-Sun, 5-6 hours ea.

Mental:
1.  Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
2.  May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

Physical:
1.  Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.
2.  Must be able to carry trays and other items needed for service.
3.  Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
4.  Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
5.  General office environment with limited physical activity.
6.  Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.  
7.  Work is routine in pleasant, comfortable surroundings.  General office conditions prevail.  Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
