Job Description

Purpose

Under the direction of the Director of Lodging & Conferences, oversees daily operations of all hotel services and departments of  the Cliff Lodge, including housekeeping, guest services, maintenance, Cliff Spa, owner services, and Camp Snowbird.  Also, acts as Assistant Director of Lodging when Lodging Director is not available.  

 

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility

  1. Supervise daily activities. Devise and communicate daily game plan. Coordinate with Front Desk, Maintenance, Guest Services, Valet, Bellman, Spa, Camp Snowbird and Owner Services to provide the best service possible to guests.
  2. Assist Director of Lodging with planning, revenue management, budgets, special projects, resort liaison, and operations throughout Lodging Division.  Represents Director in Director’s absence. 
  3. Complete departmental paperwork. Prepare payroll, performance evaluations, event records, termination clearances, updates personnel action notices. Reviews weekly operations of housekeeping and guest service staff staff. 
  4. Maintain staffing levels and assist department managers as needed with hiring of staff.  Oversee discipline, counsel, give direction and positive recognition to managers and staff. 
  5. Oversee and assist managers with training of all staff members.
  6. Maintain supply levels of all necessary items. Maintain equipment at a safe and functional working level.
  7. Work with other department leaders to achieve resort goals.   
  8. Implement new programs & new training procedures.
  9. Travel: Occasional travel to/from resort.

  2. Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
  3. Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

 

Education & Experience Requirements
  High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  College degree in related field preferred.  Additional related work experience may be substituted for education.
  5-10 years of hotel management experience in a resort or 4-star hotel.

Specific Requirements:
  Must be at least 21 years of age.
  Valid Driver License w/ clean MVR (driving record)

Skills & Knowledge


Technical:    
Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult. Uses general office equipment (computer, key machine, 3 phone lines, fax machine). Compiles payroll from Kronos Timekeeper software, places orders and checks on requisitions through the Stratton Warren system. Must have working knowledge in smsHost system. Bi-lingual in Spanish language preferred. Calls for basic ability to work well with co-workers and others in a structured and sometimes unstructured environment. Requires the ability to interact with guests and customers in a friendly and accommodating manner.

Administrative:    
Requires problem solving and initiation of less clearly defined job activities. May make relatively complex decisions about materials, supplies, and / or equipment. Decisions may be made with broad policy parameters and procedural guidelines, where there may be more than one correct solution, and where guidelines may need interpretation.  Decides how to resolve guest complaints about rooms. Decides on proper disciplinary actions within policy guidelines. Responsible for inventory of towels, linens, guest items, and amenities for guest rooms, and guest pool. Responsible for replacement and purchase of necessary equipment.  Must complete/approve weekly schedules for department staff. Ensures  rooms are clean and safe.

Working Conditions


Work Schedule:
  Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
     
Mental:
  Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
  May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

Physical:
  Must be able to lift 25+ lbs.
  Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
  Work is routine in pleasant, comfortable surroundings.  General office conditions prevail.  
  Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
