As a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide Engineering expertise and support in product development, to existing product lines and by working closely with our Production team and supplier base. You will also conduct failure analyses and develop/implement product improvements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Support engineering efforts, in close team work with the Supplier and Manufacturing Engineering groups, by the timely disposition of non-conforming material and resolve producibility issues with internal and external manufacturing partners
Address field complaints by determining root cause and implement corrective actions under direction of senior staff
Perform mechanical, fluid, vibration and thermal analyses under direct supervision and guidance to support and improve existing products
Fabricate prototypes with assistance from technical support team (Machine Shop, Technicians and Designers) and suppliers
Work with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure producible designs (DFM)
Document design changes by constructing solid models and drawings with ProE using GD&T and stack-up analyses
Contribute to test methods and conduct characterization and engineering pre-verification testing
Assist in writing test protocols and reports for process/design changes on existing product lines
Skills/Requirements
Job Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or directly related scientific discipline, MS desired
5+ years experience, preferably in a medical device setting
Must have working knowledge with Engineering CAD software such as ProEngineer
Expertise in FEA and analytical software such as MathCad, MiniTab & Matlab desired
Knowledge of lean, six sigma, kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives desired. Green Belt preferred.
Exposure to applicable manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion, fabrication, etc. desired.
Familiar with project management terms and concepts
Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively and frequently (oral and written)
Execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision
Able to prioritize tasks
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
May require up to 10% travel – US & EU
