Job Description

A Senior Project Manager is responsible for the coordination and completion of projects within the Information Services department. Oversees all aspects of project. Monitors and summarizes progress of project on weekly basis. Builds and maintains working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in the projects. Familiar with a variety of project management concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently that have complex designs, vendor solutions, high visibility, high risk and multiple process paths running in parallel using established methodologies and standards
  • Manage ‘special projects’ which do not follow a standard methodology

  • Research, propose and assist with implementation of new techniques to improve the Project Management Methodologies for Waterfall and Scrum and the Vendor Management Methodology
  • Execute Discovery process to define scope, goals, deliverables, business requirements, resources, budget and timing
  • Negotiate scope with the business to help drive the most business value for the project
  • Ensure business value is properly documented and achieved on projects
  • Actively participates in and drives the completion of Business Design and ensures quality and content of specifications meet standards
  • Resolve any issues and solve problems through project life cycle
  • Effectively manage project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved with project change request forms
  • Create dynamic MS Project plans
  • Monitor completion of project tasks using actual hours worked in MS Project Plans and provide analysis of the current state of the project based on work performed
  • Perform Peer audits on project deliverables to ensure content and quality meet standards prior to signoff
  • Expert at MS Project Professional and MS Project Server
  • Coach project team on methodology and ensure deliverables are completed per standards
  • Train and mentor Jr PM and PM team members on methodology and procedures

Project Standards and Procedures:

  • Follow all Corporate Standards and IS Systems Standards to develop and support projects
  • Constantly monitor work to ensure the highest level of quality

Production Issues:

  • Identify problem trends pro-actively
  • Execute action plans
  • Follow established process for problem handling or resolution

Security and Confidentiality:

  • Maintain information confidentiality and security
  • Protect and prevent unauthorized attempts to obtain corporate information
  • Report all unauthorized incidents to the management

Other:

  • Suggest and recommend better ways of improving the quality of work within a team
  • Other tasks as assigned by Director

 





Skills/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a Computer Science, Computer Programming or MIS related field OR Equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in I.S. Project Management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Information Systems
  • PMP Certification or similar Project Management training or certification is desired
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency with MS Project Professional 2007 or above
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Excellent design and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently, as well as cooperate with others in team efforts
  • Must work within designated normal office hours assigned or required by work
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States, presently and in the future, without sponsorship
