Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Development Associate’s responsibilities will primarily focus on managing aspects of the Annual Campaign’s mass campaign initiatives, including targeted mailings, maintaining a prospect and donor portfolio, and serving as Development Department liaison to the Marketing and Communications Department. In addition, the Development Associate will work closely with other colleagues in the department on various projects which may include events, grants and donor stewardship activities. The candidate should be a mature, creative and experienced individual who can work collaboratively with a team of development professionals to raise support for program needs and general operations. The person should be well-organized, adept at project management and both strategizing and implementing campaigns geared to raise both visibility and funds for the organization. Annual Campaign / Mass Campaign initiatives —develop materials, messaging and strategy for the Annual Campaign, working with the Marketing and Communications Department as well as outside designers to shape a cohesive program Campaign Operations – assist in smooth campaign operations including participation in the department’s gift processing and acknowledgments systems, troubleshooting where necessary and superb donor services Marketing and Communications—create a schedule and strategy for donor communications activities (both in print and online) including fundraising appeals, newsletters, annual report, social media, and other communications channels; Works closely with Marketing Department, designers and staff; run and maintain mailing lists from donor database Targeted mailings and campaigns—develop and monitor direct mail campaigns and special solicitation mailings for Board of Director’s contacts, special interest, post-acute discharge population and grateful families as well as the staff management campaign Maintain a prospect portfolio—identify, cultivate, develop strategies for engaging and soliciting individual donors, prospects and families Special referrals—Identify, research, visit, support, and steward residents and patients who are significant development prospects Campaign Evaluation and Reporting—Create, analyze and present data and reports, including the development of Annual Campaign metrics Donor Services - Ensure proper stewardship of donors including recognition, reporting, tracking and maintenance of relationships to establish continuity for future support Donor Stewardship - Work closely with Senior Vice President of Development, members of the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteer leadership to create tailored cultivation, solicitation and stewardship experiences and strategies Other duties and support as needed during the course of the year including but not limited to events, prospect research, grant proposals, and major gift stewardship programs QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree and 1-2 years fundraising experience required, Masters Degree preferred. Passion for eldercare and healthcare issues Excellent interpersonal, analytical, written and oral communication skills Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment Must be professional, highly organized, creative, efficient, and collaborative – Ability to work successfully both individually and as part of a team Strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and confidence Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically, set actionable goals and successfully implement them to further the mission of an organization Ability to professionally interact with all levels of residents and patients, families, staff, trustees and outside groups Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism Proficient in MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising database preferred
