Organization Summary

 

Since becoming an independent international organization in 2002, BBYO has built a powerful platform of professionals, volunteers and teens who are capable of delivering a wide menu of compelling experiences developed internally and with partners. The number of teen participants has more than tripled to over 41,000, the national staff has grown to over 100 professionals, and the budget has grown to over $20 million.  BBYO is fully leveraging this platform by offering clearly defined learning objectives, more program experiences, more opportunities to connect and more substantive tools to measure impact, ultimately sending a more passionate generation of young Jews to campus and young adulthood.

 

Position Overview

Each year, BBYO raises approximately $10M to keep programs affordable and accessible for any Jewish teen. The Development Department raises funds for national operations as well as local programming and operations in 40 communities across North America. This position will work closely with the department to implement all aspects of these campaigns. As the department works closely with the executive, marketing and finance departments, this position will gain exposure to their work as well. 

Position Duties

 

·       Develop, collect and edit content for development communications, including the BBYO website, e-Newsletters and grant reports

·       Perform research on prospective and current donors, foundations and Federations

·       Assist with development operations, such as sending donor acknowledgments and managing data in the donor database

·       Help prepare for board meetings, FAN retreats and other major fundraising events

·       Support social media efforts on Facebook, internal sites, and other networks

·       Interview prominent alumni

·       Help assist with logistics and communications between management and Board

 

The intern in this position works with all members of the development team and will work on a variety of interesting fundraising projects not specifically listed.

 

Position Qualifications

 

·       Polished written and verbal communication skills

·       Attention to detail

·       Ability to prioritize/and balance multiple projects

·       Creative/strategic thinker

·       Experience with social networking tools, Internet research tools, MS Office applications

·       Practice writing in a variety of styles – quick copy for advertisements, short writing for the Web, reports and materials for internal consumption

 

This position is approximately 35 hours per week and pays $10/hour.
