Job Description

We strive to provide the best designed website and apps, selling the best designed products, delivered with the best designed service. We want you to literally LOVE your every interaction with Fab.

Fab is currenly looking for a Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”). Reporting to the CEO, The CFO will be responsible for all financial operations for the Company, including general accounting and financial reporting, financial planning and investment analysis, internal controls, treasury and tax.

The primary goal will be to act as a key strategic partner to the CEO and other senior leaders in growing the Company and making the business more effective and profitable.  The candidate must have a strong strategic focus and will use finance and analytics to proactively drive business decisions.  He or she will be responsible for creating value for the Company and its investors through providing strategic financial insight and driving operating performance to exceed goals, leading cost efficiency and productivity improvements.

The successful candidate will have the ability to develop a deep, passionate understanding of the business, own the financial results, and think strategically about the company’s balance sheet.  He/she will be highly skilled at building and proactively working with the CEO and investors to develop scenarios for growth and profitability.

Given the size of the company it is imperative that the CFO is able to team with the CEO and management team as a true strategic partner, rather than as a narrow finance executive.  The ability to think beyond the confines of finance and contribute to the organization more broadly is critical.

Key functional competencies for this role will include:

Strategic Orientation:  The successful candidate will be creative and capable of thinking broadly about the business—not just financial issues.  The candidate will demonstrate the ability to work with the CEO to help shape the Company’s business and financial strategy.  Candidates will be able to demonstrate contributions to the strategic success of their prior companies.

Results Orientation:  The ideal candidate will have a track record of consistently delivering significant year-over-year improvement in financial results in customer-oriented environments characterized by a high sense of urgency and a need for rapid change and continuous improvement.  This individual will not be satisfied with simply achieving goals, but will seek out ways to consistently exceed them.

Collaboration and Influencing:  Candidates will communicate clear, accurate and timely financial information relevant to the Company’s strategic decisions to the executive team and investors.  He/she will need to demonstrate that they can influence decisions as a result of their functional expertise, but also from demonstrating leadership and initiative.  This will require the selected candidate to work collaboratively with the ideas of others, while influencing decisions and demonstrating conviction where needed.

Team Leadership:  The ideal candidate will build deep organization capability to impact the future growth and profitability of the business.  He/she should be focused on coaching and mentoring his/her team and consistently bring in best-in-class performers to ensure continued growth and success of the business.  The candidate will possess the ability to effectively motivate others to achieve goals and objectives.

Skills/Requirements

  • 15+ years of finance experience, ideally as a sitting CFO, with proven ecommerce and/or retail experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a finance function that has scaled to support the requirements of a growing organization and evolving business model.
  • Ideal candidates will have experience in a product-driven ecommerce company of scale with proven success in improving inventory and supply chain metrics.

  • Capability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced, roll-up-the-sleeves environment
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and change and be ready to dive into details where necessary to move the business forward, but also be able to step back and take a higher level strategic view of the business and potential areas of opportunity for sustainable growth/value creation.
  • Exude passion for the company’s mission, principles, and values and will be a person of the highest integrity and professional standards.
  • Possess the analytical skills necessary to navigate in an ecommerce setting and will be proactive in assessing different economic models and scenarios for the business.
