Reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Development, the Foundation and Corporate Relations Director is a senior front-line fundraiser who manages the portfolio of corporate and foundation donors. S/he is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding new foundations and corporations. Incumbent must actively engage in establishing long-term partnerships and develop new funding sources. In addition, s/he oversees the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals and program evaluations. The Director is also responsible for working with the SVP to support efforts toward Jewish Home’s $150 million capital campaign. The Director will oversee and work closely with a Development Associate and sets high standards of excellence for the department.
Responsible for increasing the visibility of Jewish Home Lifecare in Foundation and Corporate arenas; manage all corporate and foundation relations activities
Design, implement and manage a comprehensive development plan that will expand and enhance foundation and corporate relationships
Solicit six-and seven-figure foundation and corporate commitments to support the mission and goals of Jewish Home
Maintain a rigorous schedule of contact with foundation and corporate representatives, creating appropriate moves management plans, compelling meetings, presentations and invitations to submit proposals
Advise Jewish Home departments on foundation and corporate areas of interest and initiate opportunities to secure funding for them
Supervise Development Associate
Work closely with the development department and other Jewish Home departments on system improvements, such as those for grant reporting and information sharing
Skills/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and at least 7-10 years of experience as a front-line development officer in a comparably complex organization (Master’s degree preferred)
Proven track record of securing six-and seven-figure grants, and exceeding fundraising goals
Demonstrated ability to write clear, complex, articulate, and persuasive proposals; strong research skills
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups and individuals
Experience expanding and securing corporate partnerships required
Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism
Ability to initiate and build relationships with prospective corporate and foundation donors, and interact via telephone and in person with institutional representatives
Previous supervisory experience required; strong management skills, both strategic and operational
Team player who works well with people at all levels both inside and outside of the organization; understands how to collaborate with other departments
Excellent presentation and oral communication skills
High integrity and ability to maintain confidences which creates trust and communication with donors and staff
Passionate about eldercare issues
Adept in Microsoft Office suite and databases; experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising database required
