Abiomed is looking for a Key Account Director (KAD)  to focus on establishing sustainable relationships with key opinion leaders (KOL) in Interventional Cardiology and develops partnerships between these physicians and Abiomed.  The KAD represents all aspects of Abiomed and relays information to our customers from clinical data to technical bulletins, from educational programs to company messaging and voices the customers’ needs to the respective Abiomed teams.  The KAD also represents the field organization and relays the field’s needs for resources and tools. The ideal candidate for this role will be located in a major city near an airport.

The Key Account Director is also responsible for the planning and implementation of various marketing programs (tradeshows) that support ABIOMED’s mission of increasing education, awareness and adoption of hemodynamic support.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop sustainable direct relationships with designated and identified key  opinion leaders  and influential personnel, establishing or elevating partnerships, to impact and maximize Abiomed’s image and maximize education and awareness of hemodynamic support
  • Establish customer focus groups to enable and facilitate feedback on new products and evaluations, new product development, messaging and competition
  • Develop partnerships with physicians in key societies and government agencies.
  • Drive sales to meet individual sales forecasts in selected Key Accounts and Regional assignment through interaction with key customers.
  • Develop and manage key strategic programs based on individual customer needs and interests that are mutually beneficial to the needs and interests of Abiomed.
  • Execute fellowship programs and training courses at appropriate teaching institutions.
  • Serve as a Project Manager for designated regional tradeshows and symposia such as Scripps, Ohio State, Duke and C3.
  • Develop new and emerging opinion leaders through focus groups, key customer visits, VIP programs, hemodynamic courses and local programs.
  • Develop and initiate customized value added programs for our Key Opinion Leaders and establish speakers to build a comprehensive speakers’ bureau capable of presenting Abiomed’s latest clinical data.
  • Serve as a corporate liaison between Key Opinion Leaders and Abiomed’s Executive team, Management, Marketing, Clinical Research and Sales.
  • Facilitate visits, appointments, meetings, etc. between Key Opinion Leaders and Abiomed personnel.
  • Assist in the development and execution of specialty customer programs held in conjunction with major trade shows or established as separate symposia.
  • Execute and facilitate important and integral customer meetings at major medical shows such as ACC, TCT and SCAI
  • Responsible for Ownership of Regional Meetings directed by Key Opinion Leaders in respective regions
  • Manage budget to insure appropriate resource allocation in conjunction with the integrated sales and marketing plan.
  • Communicate regularly with all members of the sales team as outlined.

 





Skills/Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • BA/BS
  • 4 or more successful years of sales experience within Abiomed OR >7 years of related industry sales experience and proven success AND Prior KOL management experience
  • Demonstrated physician KOL relationships in geographic area
  • Demonstrated desire to attain the position
  • Must be able to travel overnight extensively (80%)
  • Ability to use PC's and associated software. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Mastery of cardiac anatomy and clinical data.
