This position is primarily responsible for performing all outdoor maintenance of the Corporate Headquarters Complex. As a Trainee this position will become acquainted with all the pieces of equipment that Menards has so that by the time they reach the Skilled level they will be able to operate the grader, backhoe, auger truck, dump truck, tree spade, farm tractor, skid steer, street sweeper, mowers, and snow plows. This position will become specialized in one or more duties but will be rounded in all duties.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform seasonal grounds duties including: Raking, planting, watering, mowing, cleaning up debris/trash, weed whipping fence lines and weeding lawn/plantings, removal of snow and ice from roads, walk ways and parking lots
Maintain the highest standard of grounds cleanliness including sweeping and maintenance around parking lots, plantings, ponds, flower beds, benches, and sidewalks
Regularly clean up trash in ditches, roadsides, parking lots, and landscaped areas
Assist with the daily maintenance and upkeep of equipment and tools used to perform daily tasks
Mark, patch, and sweep pavement
Auger fence and sign poles
Assist the Building Maintenance Technicians with their responsibilities especially when it comes to repairing and installing outside grounds items such as fences, gate houses, etc.
Operate all of the department equipment including, road grader, dump truck, backhoe, loader, skid steer, tree spade, auger truck, farm tractors, street sweeper, and snow plows
Skills/Requirements
Must be detail oriented
High School diploma preferred
Must have an aptitude or inclination for outdoor work
At least some previous wheeled equipment experience is helpful and desired
Must be able to do heavy lifting and physical labor on a daily basis
Must have valid driver’s license
Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays as needed due to work requirements; occasionally on short notice due to snow or other emergency
Able to work well in a team or alone in ALL weather conditions
Regular scheduled hours are Monday through Friday,early mornings (3am until 1pm)
